Every Journey Starts with a First Step

Every journey starts somewhere they say but of course the challenge is to pick a spot.

I mentioned in my welcome email that I wasn't happy with my current health situation so I thought I'd elaborate on that.

I suffer from clinical depression and have since my teen years likely. It comes and goes fortunately but unfortunately right now it's in the come stage and I'm really struggling. Over the years I've tried many pharmaceutical options and none have helped so I've just stepped aside from that and I'm trying to help myself through lifestyle which of course requires more effort than just popping a pill so it's a real struggle but I try and I think that's all anyone can ask.

I also got a surprise that my cholesterol is higher than it should be. This was a surprise as we eat quite healthy so I guess we're chalking it down to genetics. Having said this it doesn't really matter where it comes from it's still there and needs to be dealt with. Again drugs were an option but my physician says that the research isn't really promising on woman so we chose to go the lifestyle route on this one as well for now.

Finally if that wasn't enough my fasting blood sugar was higher than it should be. Now it wasn't diabetes thank gosh but it was what they call pre-diabetes which means you MIGHT get diabetes. Honestly this one scares me. I have enough trouble with the depression if I had to start dealing with insulin all the time I think it might just so me in. Fortunately there are some lifestyle things you can do to reduce your risk so again it comes down to lifestyle.

So as you can see. Three big problems all with the same solution and that was the inspiration for this blog. This is my life and this blog will be about my journey to wellness amongst other things that will inevitably side track me along the way.

I'm not very self motivated so that's why the blog was born. I figured in time I might find some kind souls who might walk with me during my journey. I have an amazing friend who I owe so much too but I figure a person can never be surrounded by too many caring people. I also hope too that this blog allows me to support you as well in your inevitable life challenges.

Again welcome to my blog and I hope you come back.
